Second harvest Mabon

This is the time, day and night are shared in equal "time". This is the second harvest celebration among Pagans and other witchy people. It is a time to focus on prepping food and home for the come winter time. Mabon, is a time to celebrate abundance, successful harvest, thankfulness and appreciation of family, friends, hearth and home.

What can you do to celebrate Mabon? There are many ways, here are a few:

Hearty bowl of chunky soup with a display of ingredients all around
Hearty fall time soup

1. Make hearty stews with root vegetables like potatoes; carrots; turnips. Bake bread and make some kind of pumpkin baked good. My favorite is pumpkin bread. Here is a recipe close to the one I make. Of course drink your pumpkin spice java product or apple cider.

2. If you have a garden this would be the time to start harvesting the rest of your garden goodies, i know I have to harvest a lot now, herbs (sage, mint, rosemary), potatoes, carrots and whatever is left of the tomatoes.

A walking path in the middle of the woods during autumn foliage. Leaves litter the road with their shades of orange and yellow.

3. Go for Nature walks. This is the best time to get outside and enjoy the crisp air. Pick up some leaves and sticks for your altar. 🍁😉 The days are going to be getting shorter, don't waste them by staying cooped up.

4. Set up your Mabon altar. All fall related items can be used, leaves, gourds, acorns, sunflowers, corn, cornucopias, so on.

  1. Animals that can be used are squirrels, fox, owl, stag, wolf.

  2. Gemstones/ crystals: Carnelian, quartz, hematite, tigers eye, amber, cirtine.

  3. Herbs and incense: Patchouli, sage, frankincense, cinnamon, rosemary, clove, myrrh

Most importantly, Take the time to give thanks for all that you have accomplished this year. It has been a tough one, but you made it. It is in this moment you give space for what you have and what you did. So enjoy your hot beverage of choice (unless your like a few people I know. then have it cold). The crisp air during your walk and maybe even a bonfire. Just remember to be present in the moment, because after all it is a gift.

Happy Mabon and bright blessings, Sarah
